#APConnect-CPD Pathway (inhouse & open courses)

As different areas remain in different tiers, we’ve been exploring ways of making the Education and Training Foundation  #APConnect CPD offer even more flexible so you can access it in a way that works for staff in what are, without doubt, very challenging times. We know it’s easy for professional developmental to fall down the list but right now it’s so important to create spaces for practitioners to connect, to breath, to reflect.

So, we continue to offer places on blended open courses where you can connect with peers from across England to learn from and with each other, using the Thinking Environment to create cultural change and spaces practitioners feel valued and re-energised.

But we are also offering organisations opportunities to run three courses, including ‘Using the Thinking Environment’, in-house at times and dates to suit. Perhaps some point in the New Year? All courses will need to take place by 31 March 2021 and are priced at £1,230 for 16 practitioners. Resource is limited do do get your query in if you want to take up the offer.

So what’s on the menu?

On Friday 6 November Prof. Matt O’Leary and Joanne Miles ran for 30 colleagues ‘Using Developmental Observations’. This was a full on day with delegates exploring observation cycles including Teaching Triangles and Unseen Observations. Participants reconvene in March 2021 to explore their progress in small-scale work place projects. And they are piloting and testing a rich array of developmental observations including:

  • setting up a pilot study with a small group of advocates
  • pilot unseen observations this term
  • work with a small number of teachers to engage in unseen observations
  • pilot Unseen Observations with colleagues in my department.
  • introduce unseen observations into my teacher ed department – wish me luck!!
  • discuss unseen observations with our APs and to involve them more in their various strands of observation at our college

the breakout into groups worked well – best webinar/training I’ve attended since this lockdown world – very beneficial and enjoyable thank you

Love having detailed pre-reading giving us the opportunity to go much deeper on the day

‘Using the Thinking Environment’ is scheduled for February, while all three courses are also available in-house. Have you booked?

This blended module is designed specifically for managers leading AP-type teams  This module will focus on how to create and sustain the conditions for AP teams to thrive; exploring your vision, resources and skills investment in APs.
